The Hyacinth Society is an organization devoted to the health, safety, and success of youth who fall outside of perceived societal norms of sexual orientation and gender identity. Through community development, program planning, network building and research we hope to work with, and as a part of communities to provide queer youth with the support that they need.

Members and allies of the queer community must remember that unlike many other minorities, queer kids often don't have an opportunity to turn to their family for support. This is part of why queer youth are more likely to be homeless, live in foster care, abuse drugs & alcohol and be far more likely to attempt, and succeed at suicide. It is up to us; as members and allies of the queer community, we must take action. We must give queer youth somewhere, and someone, to turn to in their time of need.
